Save on Giant Eagle Multiple Item Deals at Walmart without buying a ton

Giant-Eagle-Multiple-Price

Walmart is not my favorite place to shop, but I had to share this great saving opportunity with you.

I visited Walmart last Thursday planning to get the Energizer Batteries for free.  Unfortunately, my store didn’t have the 8 count packages specially marked.  It was just the 16 counts that were priced at $9.97.  So I passed on that deal.

I had planned on picking up Hall’s Cough Drops there because I Heart The Mart showed them to be priced at $1.12.  This was 13 cents cheaper then Giant Eagle’s sale price.  Unfortunately for me, the price at my store was $1.69.  Just goes to show how different regional prices can be.

What I did end up getting was the Bush’s Beans.  There were three reasons I decided to get them at Walmart instead of Giant Eagle.

  • The third reason I chose Walmart was the coupon was for $1/3.  That meant no doubling savings would be available at Giant Eagle.

So here is the deal I had:

3 Bush’s Beans at 92 cents each = $2.76
Less $1 for $1/3 Bush’s Best Chili Bean 10/12 SS coupon
Received $1 Ibotta Rebate
76 cents for all 3 cans or 25 cents each

Then on a whim, I decided to submit my receipt to the Walmart Savings Catcher.  All I had bought was the beans, 2 milks, and a can of white hair spray for Halloween.  Thinking that the Giant Eagle price would show up at $1, I didn’t expect much, but guess what came in my email this morning.

I checked the receipt and the Giant Eagle individual price match was based on the 12/$10 price or at 83 cents each.  So even though I didn’t buy 12 cans of Chili Beans I still got the great sales price by shopping at Walmart — plus the Ibotta exclusive offer to make the deal even better.  With Walmart Price Catcher you get a gift card that can be used at Walmart or Sams.

My final cost for the beans was 49 cents for all 3 cans or 16 cents each thanks to Price Catcher, the Ibotta offer exclusive to Walmart and coupons.  This definitely beat the 50 cents a can deal at Giant Eagle this week.

So lesson learned:

If you don’t want to buy multiple amounts to get the savings in a Giant Eagle sale, go buy it at Walmart and then submit your receipt to Walmart Savings Catcher.  Also works great if there is an exclusive Walmart Ibotta eOffer for an item on sale at Giant Eagle.
