Crockpot Tuesday – Italian London Broil

I finally found a good way to cook London Broil in the crockpot.  It was delicious and simple and great to use when you get London Broil Buy One Get One Free Like I did.  This week’s Crockpot Tuesday recipe is Italian London Broil and it’s an adaptation of Crockpot London Broil found on

Here’s what you will need:

  • 2 to 2 1/2 lb London Broil
  • 1 Pack Mushroom Gravy
  • 1 Pack Italian Dressing Mix
  • 1 1/2 cups water

Place the London Broil in the crockpot. Unlike most of my Crockpot Tuesday recipes,my meat wasn’t frozen because I had just bought it the evening before and never froze it.

I poured the Italian Dressing Mix and the Gravy mix into a measuring cup, and then added 1 1/2 cups of water and stirred it together.

I poured the mixture over the meat, put on the lid and cooked on low for 6 hours. If your London Broil is frozen, add an extra hour on high.

After 6 hours, this is what my roast looked like:

I will admit, I am not the biggest beef lover, but this London Broil had great flavor and was very tender and delicious. The juices and liquids made a excellent gravy. I just put a couple tablespoons of cornstarch in a cup and mixed with hot water and poured it in the liquid after removing the meat. I turned it on high and let it cook for about 10 minutes until it thickened. I served it with some instant mashed potatoes I had gotten for free and some free frozen vegetables.

This meal wasn’t quite as frugal as my stockpile meal under a dollar, but still a pretty good deal at $6.33 for a family of 6.
